7 Effective Ways To Tackle Your Worries.
Do you get drown in your worries? Do you constantly fret about everything? You are not alone. We all worry. Everybody!!! We are anxious about our life, our business, our vacation, our work, our family, our loved ones, and everything we care about in general. The only difference is the way we address our worries. Some feel if they don’t worry today, tomorrow’s problem won’t be solved; But
“Worry doesn’t empty today of its troubles
Instead it empties today of its strength.”
~ Carrie Ten Boom.
The truth about life is that both the expected and the unexpected things are bound to happen, but you tend to be over concerned about the things you don’t expect putting yourself in a worry state, not allowing yourself to analyze and address issues better and depriving yourself better progress.
It’s tough to be productive in your daily life when anxiety and worry are dominating your thoughts. What then can you do?
Below Are 8 Very Effective Ways Which You Should Use To Tackle Your Worries.
1. Identify and recognize your worries.
When you want to tackle something, it is important to know what exactly that thing looks like; one technique for gaining control over your worry/anxiety is to identify what it really looks like.
Realize when you feel this anxiety, notice what you were doing before the anxiety began, also notice the time you spent on that activity before you started being worried. (To one of my uncle He said he always feel anxious whenever he has been watching a Chinese movie for more than 6 hours). That’s his anyway. All you need to do is just study yourself and identify exactly what your worries are. “Becoming aware of your worries provides you a starting point to tackle them”.
2. Confront The Problem.
“Worry a little every day and in a lifetime
You will lose a couple of years.
If something is wrong, fix it if you can.
But train yourself not to worry
Worry never fixes anything”
~ Mary Hemingway
Confronting your problem is virtually the most important step to take to tackle your worries, but unfortunately it becomes the most ignored step. Most people prefer to spend more time wallowing in despair, putting themselves in a worry state than to face what exactly is in front of them.
When you are constantly worried and bothered about a thing, you become frightened, scared then you become overwhelmed and the only helpful solution to this is to confront that exact thing that makes you worried. Face the fear and you’ll tend to realize that it just not as scary as it appeared to be.
3. Consciously Distract Yourself.
After you might have identified your worry, you know what it looks like and you had confronted it, the next thing for you to do is to Get Distracted. What I mean by getting distracted is for you to shift your focus; try to shift your focus away from the result to what exactly you are doing. Most chronic worriers worry because all they do is view the problem and think about the end result not regarding the process itself.
“If you get stuck, get away from your desk. Take a walk, take a bath, go to sleep, make a pie, draw, listen to music, meditate, exercise; whatever you do, don’t just stick there scowling at the problem.” ~ Hilary Mantel.
When you distract yourself consciously from what keeps you worried, they tend to pass away so soon just like they never came. It’s only when you when you engage yourself in those worries that you get hooked.
Distractions is useful in various ways;
- Distraction is fun and while having fun we, find things we truly love
- Working for a long period of time is stressful; our mind needs a break.
- Distraction gives you fresh inspiration.
- And Lots More.
4. Accept Uncertainty.
Now that you have successfully shifted your focus away from that what bothers you, all you need to do is stay relaxed and be ready to accept uncertainty. It’s not possible to be certain about all things; it’s never possible
No one sees the future that’s what makes dealing with uncertainty an unavoidable part of our life. But the inability to tolerate uncertainty is one of the major reasons why people worry; they will often want to extremely plan and prepare for everything just to make sure they don’t accept uncertainty.
“As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.” – Albert Einstein.
In real life, you need to learn how to embrace uncertainty in worry related situations, if not those uncertain things gives room to your worries.
6. Change Those “What If” Worries To “How Can I.”
Don’t disturb yourself thinking about situations that you aren’t even sure if it’s going to happen; In short it is a misuse of self. Virtually most of these things never become reality!!!
Whenever you find yourself thinking “what if” try as much as you can to change the thoughts immediately to “how can I” To get this done analyze a more basic constructive way of handling things. Here is an example. If you are worried about not having a cut on your leg at farm, you either put on a safety boot or you carry along your first aid box and that’s all.
Don’t give yourself to thoughts about “what if”. It deprives you of present time enjoyments and deprives you of future progress. Instead fill it up with way forward thoughts “how can I”
7. Tell It Out;
Telling out your worries to someone very close to you, is also very effective if you want to tackle them.
Carefully choose who to talk to about your worries. Some people will want to feed into your worries and make fun of it, while some will try all they can to help you realize a wider perspective. Take a snap study of the person before telling out your worries; don’t tell it to someone who you feel will make fun of it, tell it to a prestigious person who you feel will help you out.
Supposed you don’t have anybody to tell it to presently, or probably you feel the right person you could tell it to is not close, you can as well pick up a paper and write it down or you write it on a notepad, just make sure you’re letting it out of your mind.
8. Be A Bit Spiritual.
Are you worried and you think you have tried all you can within your physical power but you still stay worried, then it’s high time you go a bit spiritual.
“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything through prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God” – Philippians 4; 6(Holman Christian Standard Bible).
Whatever your religion, you might be a Christian, Muslim, Hindis, Agnostic, Buddhist etc. Whatever your religion, just go spiritual and make sure you are doing whatever suits your belief.
