Exercising is essential to the human body. It is actually one of the most important things to do to achieve physical fitness and to maintain a good health. Exercising is fulfilling but at the same time challenging. Actually, people love how it sounds but hate what it requires. It requires a lot of good changes and adjustments from you.
The struggle actually lies at the very beginning. Laziness welcomes you at the door. It’s hard to wake up early on a weekend and to get up and be ready for a workout. Exercising requires you to sacrifice things, hobbies, habits, favorites and an unhealthy lifestyle which you’re used to. It’s hard but it is possible!
Below, therefore, are eight (8) tips to motivate your lazy self to start exercising and living a good and healthy lifestyle:
#1. Have A Positive Mindset:
Before anything else, remember that what flows out, comes from within. If your body cannot function well because you’re demotivated, it could be because you’re not in your right state of mind.
You might be hesitant to even start exercising because you know there are lots of demands. You have to lessen intake on certain foods and drinks you love. Self-discipline is a must, and self-discipline is hard to achieve. People don’t succeed when in their mind, they’ve already lost. That’s the same thing with exercising. You might think, “This will be hard,” “This will take up a lot of my time,” “Will this even be worth it?” If you’re negative about the outcome even when you haven’t started yet, it’d definitely be difficult to take the first step.
Even when you hear other people discourage you, let your mind be bold to throw away doubtfulness and unbelief towards yourself. Think positively, and focus on your fitness goals. Let your mind be in great connection with your body. The battle starts in the mind. Don’t lose that quickly and vulnerably. Never!
#2. Read And Understand Fitness Content:
People are great influencers to each other, and social media is a platform by which everyone gets connected and impacted by people, even strangers. You see there are ordinary people and even famous ones who post their fitness progress and fitness goals.
Also, there are a lot of videos that record fitness activities and workout routines which you can watch on your own and imitate afterward. There are testimonies of successful individuals who from being unfit and unhealthy, were made better through their dedication to their fitness goals.
Be inspired by such true stories. Don’t be discouraged or lazy that it’s only you who has to do this; rather, be reminded that there are also people like you experiencing the same struggle, but they’ve succeeded in achieving fitness and good health. And if it’s you, you can do the same or even better!
#3. Choose Your Music:
Exercising is fun when you do it the fun way or your fun way. Music helps a lot in motivating you to do things, and that’s the same when you exercise. You are hyped or driven because it’s your jam that’s going to be the background music or the main music of your workout routines.
Let this be a motivating force for you not to be lazy. You’ll enjoy it and will forget that it’s a “need” if you do it with joy and excitement.
#4. Use A Huge Mirror:
Consider using a huge mirror while you exercise. You can buy, borrow or use a room with a huge mirror. This is not required, but it can be helpful! With a huge mirror, you’ll be able to see whether you’re doing the right routines or not. That’s also one of the reasons why gyms and dance studios are surrounded with mirrors inside.
Doing so will also motivate you to do your best and exert lots of your energy into what you’re doing. You are also able to see your physical body, thus, your own physical and visual progress, with your own eyes. It’s you who see yourself every time you exercise, so it’s also you who will notice changes happening.
#5. Get Your Exercise Clothes – Comfortable To Wear:
Even if you choose to exercise inside your house, within your comfort zone, still, there are proper clothes to wear. There are clothes that, if you wear for a workout, are not suitable but rather uncomfortable.
Before you begin exercising, you can entertain yourself by buying proper exercise outfits and equipment. To save, you can be creative and resourceful by looking for old clothes that won’t give you a hassle when wearing it while exercising intensely. Choose those that you like, so you’ll have an inspiration to begin.
#6. Join A Group Fitness Class:
If you’re a lazy person but lazier when you’re alone, then why don’t you consider joining a group fitness class? It has many advantages, and one of those is that it activates you to start and sweat it out through exercise because you do it with your friends or with people who will become your friends.
You will feel happier and even more moved to exercise because there are other people who share with you the same struggle and victory in the end as well. Instead of getting lazy to get up on your own, you have other people waiting for you and expecting you to attend fitness class with them. They might even text or call you, which gives you a reason to really workout.
#7. Take Down Notes:
If you like writing or recording stuff, this would be your advantage. It’s helpful if you measure your weight or let’s say your waistline before, during and after your exercise. In that way, you’ll be able to keep track of how well you’re doing. It won’t only give you numbers but also the inspiration that something’s actually happening and that your sweat is not without value.
And here’s the last tip where we conclude…
#8. Dare Yourself:
As you’ve seen from the previous ones, you have to be strongly motivated. There are many tips and tricks but do not forget that the one which can give you the greatest and most powerful motivation to do so is yourself.
Challenge yourself daily. If it’s good health and physical fitness that you want and need, be ready to take the challenge. Dare yourself, and be reminded that it’s all for you.
Live a fit and healthy life. Live long!
