What motivates you? What keeps you going? Have you ever thought of it? What makes you excited about life every morning when you wake? It is very important to identify the force that drives you if truly you want to achieve success in this new year.
Research shows that there are quite a number of people out there who doesn’t know what drives them. Ordinarily, some people wake up each morning just because they have to go to school, they attend school because they want to get a job, they get a job because they want to get that salary, they get the salary because they need to feed themselves and pay off their bills. It’s no big deal though, I was once like that not until I sat down on the most boring day of my life to define the true me!
After my just concluded survey about how people work and their drive, I came up with these 8 key elements that motivates everybody! Be sure to identify the category which you fall into.
Now what motivates you? -:
1. Your desire?
This is the most common force that drives people.
“Desire is the starting point of all achievements, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which exceeds everything.” ~ Napoleon Hill.
Some people get motivated by their desires. They get stirred up and maintain a strong focus when they remember what they’ve been longing for.
All they want and focus on is how to achieve this wish. “I wish to be in a world where I would be the chief lawmaker and give orders. Therefore I wouldn’t rest until I achieve my desire.”
Are you motivated by your desire?
2. Your personal life/story?
People’s personal story can serve as their drive. They get scratchy by their present state, and they want to earn a new and better lifestyle. So they are motivated to work until they achieve their personality.
“I lost my father at the tender age of seven, all of my father’s friends and family members who constantly visited and socialized with us when my dad was alive stayed away from us. Some relatives even went as far as taking his properties after his death. Living was tough for us as feeding six children from meager salary she earned became difficult for my mother. I knew I wanted to change my family’s story, I knew I could do it, I knew it’s possible. But I don’t know how to do it. Anyways I had this rising in me to achieve a better self and guess what? I scaled the journey through from a poor fatherless kid to a successful blogger.” This are the words of Bamidele Onibalusi, whose ultimate drive was his present mode of living.
Are you motivated to achieve a better you by your present state?
3. Money?
A whole lot of people are money driven. They tend to go crazy at work or the day’s activities when they check and realize that they haven’t gotten the money they need for a particular task.
They work harder when they need money and when they get the money needed, they forget about working.
Are you money driven?
4. The competition?
Competition is another force that drives people. They wake up each morning to pick up the struggle, they work hard, they pass through series of difficulties yet they stick to it till they breakthrough because they don’t want to be behind their colleagues.
A practical example of a “competition driven motivated person” is Muhammad Ali. The primary reason why he was persistent was to come out victorious in every competition.
“I hated every minute of training, but I said to myself, don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.” ~ Muhammad Ali.
This drive is common among entrepreneurs, sportspersons, politicians, students, working class officials and lots more.
Are you motivated because of the competition in your field?
5. Power?
Power is also another force that drives people. These are people who wants to become a political leader, law enforcement agents and so on. They want power, they want to rule, they want to give orders, therefore they work harder to build this power.
Are you motivated because of power?
6. Positive Talks?
Positive talks is another force that drives some people.
I can do this, it is possible, I will reach my goal, and lots more. Are examples of positive words that inspires some people to work real hard.
“When you see and proclaim success then you tend to achieve that success.”
Are you motivated whenever you speak positive words to yourself? Certainly Yes.
7. Making impact?
“You can get anything you want in life by helping others get what they want.” ~ Zig Ziglar.
Impact making is another drive. Some people derives greater joy when they give help to others. These are philanthropists. They want a better life for the people around them, they stand in the gap for the less privileged, and feels bad when they realize they cannot do anything to help the poor and needy.
Are you motivated to work because you want to help others? This is one of the best drive to possess. It makes you recognized, puts you in the position of fame and makes you likeable among all.
8. Passion?
Another great force that drives people is their passion.
Passion – A strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something. Passion is an emotion that comes from within. It makes you keen to your work/ activities, you direct all focus to the work to get better results of yourself.
Are you motivated because of your passion?
In conclusion.
Whatever drives you, whatever keeps you moving whatever inspires you to work hard, whatever it is out of #1 – #8; it may even be the combination of two or more. Be sure to use the drive wisely to take full charge of yourself and achieve greater success!
